Country Living
The hustle and bustle of downtown life just doesn’t appeal to everyone.
Living in a more rural locale has the advantage of being slower-paced, quieter and more laid back. Driving in the country however, does present its own set of challenges.
And in fact, accidents while driving are more likely to happen in rural areas than hectic central cities. The typical small town dweller also has a different lifestyle than city folk. Your vehicle may play a much larger role in your occupational tasks for example. You may be less concerned with having a vehicle that takes up less space parked on the street, and more concerned with being able to tow or haul products or goods.
So, if you’re living the country or small town life, the vehicle you shop for needs to fit your unique set of needs.
What features then should you be making sure your vehicle has?
Four-Wheel or All Wheel Drive
All Wheel or Four Wheel drive is essential to country life. Being able to travel in inclement weather is a necessity for many people. Public transportation isn’t a reliable option in sprawling rural areas.
If you need to get home in the snow a 4WD or AWD vehicle will improve traction, as their drive trains transfer power between the front and back wheels. Our 2015 Buick Enclave , 2017 Chevy Suburban, and the 2017 Dodge Durango Citadel are all great options that each brings something different to the table in terms of style and additional features.
Offroad Capabilities
Many people choose the country because it offers so many opportunities for fun and adventure outdoors. Whether your hobby of choice is hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking or climbing, you definitely want a vehicle you can travel with on any terrain. Off-road vehicles ares equipped with larger tires with deep treads and a flexible suspension allowing them to grip and move over gravel or rock, bend and twist along backroads and climb up and down mountains.
Vehicles like our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon are a classic example of an off-road vehicle, but others like the Ram 1500 Rebel, and Chevrolet Colorado also have off-road capabilities.

Towing Capacity
Again, utility often matters most in a vehicle for a country driver. If you’re interested in being able to tow a boat, RV or horse/animal trailer, buying a vehicle with a hefty towing capacity should be a major consideration.
For heavy duty towing, the vehicles equipped to pull the heaviest load (up to 8000lbs) are the Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150 King Ranch, and GMC Sierra 1500.
For lighter utility towing the Chevy Tahoe Premier, GMC Yukon and Toyota Tacoma are also all great options.
