What makes the 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Texas Edition Unique?

April 15, 2026

Take an in depth look at the 2026 GMC Sierra SLT Texas Edition with the X-31 Off-Road Package! Keep reading to find out what sets the Texas Edition apart from other 2026 Sierras.

What is the Texas Edition?

Special Edition Badges and Limited Availability

Because these vehicles are primarily sold in Texas-area dealerships, they are one of the more uncommon trim levels offered by GMC. Exclusive fender, rear and interior “Texas Edition” badges are featured prominently on this truck. These emblems depict iconic imagery of the Lone Star State and give the vehicle a unique distinction from other Sierra 1500s.

A Next-Level SLT

The Texas Edition is equivalent to a Sierra 1500 SLT with several upgrades from the Denali trim package. It comes with exclusive 20-inch Aluminum wheels alongside chrome side steps with plastic grip padding. The Texas Edition also includes a GMC-branded spray-in bed liner and a power sliding glass window in the rear.

X31 Off-Road Package and Increased Engine Power

The X31 Off-Road package vastly improves the Sierra’s towing and off-road capabilities, equipping the vehicle with factory off-road suspension. The package also includes hill descent control, a heavy-duty air filter and skid plates. A 5.3L V8 engine delivers a strong and reliable performance with 355 Horsepower and 383 Lb-Ft of torque.

Interior Features

The Interior of the Texas Edition Sierra 1500 is quite similar to the SLT’s, with a simple layout including heated and cooled front seats, a large infotainment center, dual glove boxes and multiple USB and USB-C ports. Rear seat warmers, wooden accents, and a Bose sound system are also featured. Technology upgrades, additional Texas Edition emblems and a sunroof are all optional add-ons.

Krietz Customs BUILD Overview

A six-inch Rough Country lift kit gives the Texas Edition Sierra 1500 a bold stance. Because the factory ball joints installed by GMC are unable to withstand the angle of the lift, forged upper control arms are required in order to preserve the vehicle’s structural integrity. N3 Shocks alongside the upper control arms supplement the ride quality on the 6″ Lift.

The Texas Edition 20″ wheels were swapped for 22×12 Fuel Rebars. Durable and affordable 35″ Fury Country Hunters ensure a quieter ride than other R/T tires.
