Overview
Released in 2025, the Avix Trailtek R/T tire is now available at Krietz Customs! Distributed by Wheel Pros, the Trailtek is a rugged terrain (R/T) tire that is built for off-road and trail use but isn’t too loud or uncomfortable for everyday driving. R/T tires are a middle ground between all-terrain (A/T) and mud terrain (M/T) tires. The compact tread pattern found on R/T tires is ideal for driving on gravel or dirt trails, or rainy and snowy roads. A/T tires have a similar pattern but the treads are slightly closer together.
Tread Design
The Trailtek R/T is constructed with a 3-ply design that bolsters puncture resistance and durability in demanding off-road conditions. It’s made with a silica compound that increases grip and strengthens braking in both wet and dry conditions. The treads are organized to minimize damage and wear to the tires, extending the tread life to over 40,000 miles.
As an R/T tire, The Trailtek offers extra traction while also promising a quieter ride. The tread features a double block shoulder design which enhances noise reduction and braking ability.
The Trailtek R/T’s ladder step tread block increases stability and also contains built-in wear indicators that denote how much tire life is remaining (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%). Built-in stone and mud ejectors also help keep the tires clear of debris.

Road Testing
The Trailtek R/T’s performance as an everyday tire is one of it’s strongest selling points, and our experts had the opportunity to put that to the test, pairing the tires with a six-inch lift. Compared to other R/T tires, the Trailtek is surprisingly quiet.
Under 45 MPH, the Trailtek performs almost flawlessly, lacking in tire noise and providing a smooth ride. Below 60 MPH, there is some noticeable but mild noise. Driving at highway speeds of 60 MPH and above, The tire noise is increased but nowhere near the howl that is typical for M/T and other off-road tires.
The ride quality is also largely unaffected when compared with the results commonly associated with other tires. The ride is similar to most all-terrain tires, even when combined with a lifted suspension.
Final Takeaways
The Avix Trailtek R/T is capable of delivering the performance of a mud terrain tire without any of it’s drawbacks. It’s a versatile tire that is suited well for both daily driving and off-road use. While this tire is not quite up to the level of high-end brands such as Nitto, The two are almost equal when considering price point. The Trailtek R/T is available in 17, 18, 20, and 22-inch sizes, and are relatively easy to install.
