We compared two of the most expensive vehicles released by GM: The Cadillac Escalade and the GMC Yukon! Find out the reasons behind the price gap between these luxury SUVs.
Similarities
Since both of these SUVs are manufactured by General Motors, they share many of the same mechanical components, safety features, and interior technology elements.

Both are powered by a 6.2L V8 engine and share a similar drivetrain. Due to their shared GM engineering, the two SUVs have comparable towing abilities and ride quality.
Many of the premium features are also comparable, such as the panoramic sunroof, heads-up display, heating and cooling in the front seats, and cruise control. Both vehicles also have similar cameras, blind spot monitoring, and parking assistance features.
The Yukon is the more practical option for a majority of buyers due to their similar mechanical capability, and a driving experience that is almost identical to the Escalade. However, the Cadillac’s luxury upgrades and interior features are unmatched. If you’re going to buy an Escalade, take advantage of Cadillac’s premium offerings and buy it fully loaded.

Interior Differences (WHy the Escalade Costs More)
Most of the major differences between the Yukon and the Escalade are found on the interior. The Escalade’s interior is defined by a 55-inch curved display screen, which stretches almost the entire length of the dashboard. The Yukon retains physical control buttons for functions such as climate and volume, and has slightly more storage space than the Escalade.
This screen combines most of the dashboard’s elements into one monitor, including gauges, infotainment, navigation, cameras, and other displays and media. A dedicated climate screen is also included beneath the dashboard, which also features controls for closing open doors and moving seats.
Both SUV’s are equipped with premium sound systems: A ten-speaker Bose system is inside the Yukon, while the Escalade’s AKG system includes 19 speakers, with some integrated into the headrests.
The second and third rows are also stocked with plenty of upgrades, headlined by two entertainment screens mounted on the back of the front seats. These screens are compatible with applications such as YouTube and Netflix, and can be monitored with parental controls.
Other features include USB-C and HDMI ports, powered rear seats, and weather resistant floor mats. When the seats are folded down, the same material protects the back of the seat when hauling dirty or wet cargo. The trunk is also equipped with a power liftgate and an opening rear glass panel.
The Escalade’s array of premium upgrades are the reason behind its increased price. Instead of mechanical improvements, it’s outfitted with luxury additions such as soft-closing doors with illuminating handles, color-matched trims, and higher quality paint options. Cadillac’s warranty options also provide more long-term protection, with a year of extra coverage and 12,000 miles of additional powertrain warranty.
